Hunkering down
to get shit done
I’m away at a writing conference this weekend. I’ve had the chance to listen to amazing writers like Brian Broome, Donna Kaz, Mardi Link, and Mathangi Subramanian share insights and advice on writing. I’ve studied and discussed the work of fellow writing students in workshops and had my own work thoughtfully considered.
I’ve come to many conclusions about my writing an
d writing process, including the steps I need to take in the coming months involving revision, time management, submission, and, yes, the tenacity it takes to achieve all of these goals.
I’m going to get this fucker done. I still believe that.
But the road is curving, putting me out of sight for a while. In order to dedicate the time, focus, and energy it will take to move step by step through the process, my weekly Substack will go on hiatus.
Know that I haven’t given up; just the opposite. I’ll start moving – faster, I hope, but definitely with more conviction – toward the ultimate goal of publication. I’ll send updates on the way, and believe me, as soon as there’s news to share, it will be here first.
Until then…..

Git r done! (Looking forward to reading The Tenacity again after that!)
